This event is in the past.
1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Join the Wayne State University School of Social Work for an insightful Continuing Education Workshop tailored for current or aspiring healthcare professionals in social work or current social work students as we delve into the intricate landscape of ethical considerations in the field.
Led by WSU Social Work Doctoral Candidate Kathryn Wright, this workshop offers a dynamic platform to navigate through real-world scenarios, ethical dilemmas, and best practices in healthcare settings. From maintaining confidentiality to navigating clients with acute disabilities or criminal backgrounds, participants will gain practical insights and tools to enhance their ethical decision-making skills. Don't miss this opportunity to engage, learn, and elevate your practice in the ever-evolving realm of healthcare social work ethics. Exploring ethical dilemmas in healthcare is vital for social work professionals as it ensures client welfare, upholds professional integrity, promotes legal compliance, assists in boundary setting, and fosters continuous improvement in practice. By addressing these dilemmas, professionals can navigate complex situations ethically, ensuring the best possible outcomes for individuals and communities.
Kathryn Wright is at the final stage of a joint degree in social work and anthropology. She is interested in how disability, particularly intellectual and developmental disability, is defined by academic fields and fields of practice, such as social work, and the alternative definitions of disability that spring from disabled communities and disability activism. She is also interested in ethics and ethical social work practice, including with individuals with disability and in care settings, as well as research ethics, particularly developing accessible research practices.
