The Wayne State University School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education invites child welfare workers, family preservation workers, foster care workers and adoption services to attend one of our specialized child welfare trainings. We are excited to host Nancy Keller-MacKinnon, LMSW and Haley K. Scott, LLMSW for this training titled "Trauma, Grief, and Loss".
This training will provide an overview of key theoretical and practical approaches to grief and loss. Participants will also understand the impact of sudden loss and violent deaths and how to support families during a loss while they also conduct a thorough investigation. This training will also examine symptoms and types and misconceptions of grief and explore the various components of trauma, grief, and loss. It will help participants identify how grief can affect an individual in a myriad of ways (emotional, behavioral, cognitive, physical, and spiritual) and also explore the importance of a self-care approach. This training will utilize exercises, small group discussion, and visual displays.
CONTINUING EDUCATION: Attendees can obtain 3 social work CECH upon completion of the training, payment receipt and passing of the post-training quiz. A CECH certificate will be emailed within 7 - 10 business days after the event.
