Course Description:

Book: “The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey”- by Walter Mosley

Brief: Participants in this workshop explore issues related to social work practice and clients as presented in the novel, “The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey.” For obvious reasons, we can never know the confusion and loss of intellectual faculties that so often attend old age but Mosley in this novel gives us a convincing and close encounter. The reading and discussion of this novel will result in unexpectedly profound questions and insights into the subtle links between memory and identity, the difference between forgetting and having the past stripped from you and what it may mean to be lost, first to those around you, then to yourself.

Instructor: Fayetta Martin-Keys, M.S.W.
