The Wayne State University School of Social Work invites faculty and academic staff to attend our upcoming Curriculum and Instruction Day - Restorative Practices in the Classroom.
Restorative practices are proactive steps that are used to build relationships in diverse settings and steps used to restore relationships that have been harmed. Restorative practices offer ways strengthen relationships between individuals and social connections within communities Under the leadership of the School of Social Work’s Committee on Antiracism, Diversity, and Social Justice (previously known as the Antiracism Committee), the SSW has committed to the integration of restorative practices in the School. Restorative practices offer a way to build relationships within diverse classrooms and to address tensions and challenges that may arise when discussing sensitive or controversial topics, or when the words or actions of faculty or students harm these relationships. This C&I Day program introduces the concepts and processes of Restorative Practices and will help participants think about ways in which these approaches can be used in the classroom.
This interactive in-person meeting will not have a virtual option.
