Social Work Disseration Defense by Julie Hanna
This event is in the past.
The Wayne State University School of Social Work invites you to attend the Dissertation Defense of Julie Hanna, presenting "Posttraumatic Growth after Burn Injury: Exploring the Role of Trauma, Stigma, and Peer Support".
Burns are complex injuries that can result in profound physical trauma, psychological issues, and social barriers. Ample burn-related research has been dedicated to the recognition of adverse effects such as trauma and stigma but also the benefit of peer support and the phenomenon of posttraumatic growth (PTG). This dissertation focuses on the ways that trauma, stigma, and peer support may play a role in PTG. Findings have implications for program development and interventions that promote PTG among burn survivors.
