Social Work Teaching Club with Joy Ernst
This event is in the past.
Noon to 1 p.m.
The School of Social Work is pleased to offer the Teaching Club for full and part time SSW faculty who wish to engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and scholarship of technology enhanced learning (SoTEL) to advance anti-oppressive, inclusive teaching in a sustained way.
On Februrary 26, 2024 Joy Ernst will present Teaching Detroit in Detroit’s Social Work School – Presentation and Facilitated Discussion. As faculty in “Detroit’s Social Work School,” how do we “teach Detroit”? This will be a combined presentation/information sharing session on how faculty use the city of Detroit as a resource for teaching about social work practice. Ernst will present her experiences in creating Detroit-based content for SW 3710: Social Welfare and the Social Work Profession: History, Trends and Basic Concepts and provide examples from her teaching materials. Ernst will then invite discussion and information sharing from participants.
