"Beyond the Binary:

A Review of Gender Dysphoria its Diagnosis and Treatment in Children, Adolescents and Adults"

 

Objectives:

  

1.  Utilize clinical cases to illustrate common presentations and challenges in treating children, adolescents, and adults who identify as member of the LGBTQ community.

2.  Define terminology commonly used in the LGBTQ community and provide example of appropriate use of preferred pronouns.

3.  Review the history of Homosexuality in Psychiatry and the DSM.

4.  Review DSM Diagnosis of Gender Dysphoria and its treatment.

5.  Understand the WPATH criteria for hormonal and surgical treatment of gender dysphoria.
