A 2016 Wayne State University MPH alumnus, Elyse Llamocca is now a fourth-year PhD student studying epidemiology at The Ohio State University College of Public Health. She is a graduate research associate in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health at OSU. Her work focuses on mental health services research and youth suicide prevention. Her dissertation research will examine factors predicting receipt of guideline concordant care among youth with bipolar disorder and the relationship between receipt of guideline concordant care and clinical outcomes, including recurrence/relapse, deliberate self-harm, and suicide. As a GRA, Elyse has also worked on several other projects related to youth suicide prevention and mental health services research, including examinations of factors associated with deliberate self-harm among youth with new episodes of bipolar disorder and among youth with first episodes of psychosis and a systematic review examining factors associated with pediatric psychiatric readmission. Elyse's ultimate career goal is to become an independent suicide prevention researcher.
