"The Insanity Defense: Past, Present, and Future Considerations for Psychiatry and the Law"

 Objectives: 

1. Explain how the insanity defense came to be, both worldwide and in the United States.

2.  Define the "Not Guilty by reason of insanity"(NGRI) statute in Michigan, and explain each component.

3.  Analyze intricacies of the NGRI assessment, including a case presentation. 

4.  Discuss biases and limitations in forensic and correctional psychiatry.
