7:30 to 9 p.m. - Combating Gun Violence in the Community

Emcee is Karen E. Ravarra - mother, grandmother, an eight (8) year Veteran of the United States Navy, and a member of Organizing for Action.  During her 8 years of service in the Navy she received recognition for hard work and exemplary performance, letters of commendation for meritorious service, and special recognition for her assistance in saving the life of a civilian employee.  Because of her ongoing commitment to combating bullying and harassment as well as combating gun violence in the community she has been nominated for the 2013 Presidential Citizens Medal (Executive Order 11494 - Nov 13, 1969).   It is generally recognized as the second highest civilian award of our government.
