Join the Office of Campus Sustainability for a conversation with Mark Covington, Director of Georgia Street Community Collective and skilled urban farmer. Mark uses his compost operator magic to process Wayne State's food and yard waste into nutrient rich compost. He will be talking about all things compost and why its important for the environment and community.
Mark will answer your questions about composting, sustainable agriculture, and tips on how to compost successfully. He will also touch on why organic compost is better than chemical fertilizer, the reasons this work is important for environmental justice, and any questions you may have.
Before the talk starts, explore the WSU Farmers Market, grab lunch from a food truck, and a FREE coffee, then settle down for a great conversation! Meet at the yellow shipping container on the corner of Woodward and Warren, from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
