John Brender, Ph.D. is Director of the Center for Student Global Engagement for the Office of International Programs at Wayne State. He has taught Spanish, Japanese, linguistics, foreign-language teaching methods, and English as a second language. His research spotlights international student identity and values in the U.S. and experiences of Americans living abroad. Dr. Brender served as Director of the Confucius Institute at Wayne State from 2008-2021.
