Malcolm X plaque dedication in M. Roy Wilson State Hall
This event is in the past.
10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Join us in commemorating the 60th anniversary of civil rights activist Malcolm X's historic speech at Wayne State University. In October 1963, Malcolm X addressed a packed auditorium in 101 State Hall, leaving an indelible mark on the university's history.
To honor this occasion, the Department of Anthropology invites the campus community to the dedication of a commemorative plaque in Room 101. The unveiling will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23.
Situated in the recently transformed M. Roy Wilson State Hall, the commemoration signifies Wayne State's dedication to both preserving its rich history and celebrating forward momentum.
The Department of Anthropology, actively involved in preserving Malcolm X's legacy, is currently excavating the civil rights leader's former home in Inkster, just a short drive from campus.
Event Highlights:
- Unveiling of the Malcolm X commemorative plaque in M. Roy Wilson State Hall
