Teaching While Black synopsis: “When a newly minted PhD finds her Brooklyn neighborhood under siege by urban developers, this hip-hop loving millennial takes the fight straight to the Mid-Western university that’s fueling the gentrification movement. Little does she know the crazy twists and turns her life will take when Teaching While Black.”

About the Writer & Producer: Donnetrice Allison, Ph.D has served in various capacities at the collegiate level over the last two decades, as a college professor who has published a book (Black Women’s Portrayals on Reality Television: The New Sapphire), numerous book chapters, and journal articles; but her true passion is for telling Black women’s stories. She has spent the bulk of her career analyzing film and television for its portrayals of Black people, which have often been lacking in depth and dimension; but now Dr. Allison has stepped into the role of creative, with several projects in development, including, A Simple Walk, which was a semifinalist in the 2021 Atlanta Film Festival Screenplay Competition, and a television pilot called Teaching While Black, which has been awarded, nominated, and screened at several film and television festivals, including the Cannes World Film Festival.
